In 2018 I noticed a distinct lack of women in the wood and metal shops where she worked and decided to do something about it. I arranged a meet up hoping to get 10 women into MakerLabs to connect with about making. In 24 hours 75 tickets were gone! The first meet up filled MakerLabs with inspiration and energy from awesome women.

I connected with the stories shared by other women and further understood barriers preventing women making.    From the meet up grew the ‘Tools for Women’ residency. The residency focuses on education and mentorship with women empowering other women to take up space and make. The program is ongoing and has facilitated new members, new fabricators and new stewards creating a more inclusive maker space. The residency has evolved and continues to this day

Since working as an artist I have continued to share my passion for getting women building. I use social media to share behind the scenes of how I build my large scale work and also utilise my youtube channel to share resources on how to get started in making
